Beta testing

  • by

Beta testing is the last level of software testing and software development process which evaluates the live application of software where actually used. It is done before and after releasing the software application at end user site

It offers “real world” exposure to the application for wide users.

Beta is the second letter of Greek alphabet and it is considered “pre-release” testing.

According to ISTQB is to place your application in the hands of real users outside of your own engineering team to discover any flaws or issues from user’s perspective that you would not want to have in your final, release version of an application.

It is conducted outside the organization in real time or live environment.

It is open to public and gets feedback from actual customer to validate.

Beta testing follows black box testing and after the alpha testing.

It is also called as field testing.
